It seems I'm not much good at posting these poems everyday but I'm determined not to fall behind as badly as I did with the blogging challenge.
The prompt from NaPoWriMo day 11 (Day 12 for me) was to write a tanka. Although this is a structured poem, it is, at least, a structure I'm more comfortable with because it is based solely on syllables rather than rhyme. A tanka has five lines with a syllable structure of 5-7-5-7-7. Here's my attempt.
Shadow betrayal
Over my shoulder
I glimpse a form
that follows
my path in the sun.
My shadow is not
my friend,
it is a secret
agent.
